COVID-19 Lockdowns Create Increased Risk for Suicide

COVID-19 has created a secondary environment that has exacerbated the risk of suicide among the high risk categories such as middle-aged men especially during lockdown periods. Increased social isolation, unemployment, diminished opportunities for contact with social services, and eliminating the routine of daily live have all been identified as risk factors for suicide in the Samaritan‚’s April 2020 report ‚’Out of Sight, Out of Mind: Why less-well off middle-aged men don‚’t get the support they need.‚’
