Decline of Britain‚’s coastal towns

The erosion of coastal town economies over the past decades is a huge issue. With low investment and complex social issues increasing poverty and limited life chances, they have long been forgotten. The pandemic, although responsible for some increases in domestic tourism visitors for a selected part of the year when international travel was reduced, have suffered greatly from hard-hit visitor economies during lockdowns. Forecast for further decline, with younger people less able to find jobs locally or in urban centres, the situation will likely worsen.
