I expect many, if not most, people have enjoyed the reduction in car traffic during the pandemic. But sadly the pandemic has starkly revealed financial inequalities and it has exposed, for all to see, how these inequalities have lead directly to premature deaths in many cases. We now have an opportunity to ensure that individual citizens can become fully aware of the benefits they can reap from contributing the least to global warming by offering individuals money to curb their contribution to carbon output.
