The shutting of schools due to Covid 19 has been one of the most debated topics of the pandemic. Children have now missed an enormous about of schooling which has impacted on the poorest children the most as their parents must work rather than help with their home schooling.
The pandemic has shown us the need to be flexible. Taking this approach to schooling I suggest the government consider the opportunity to be flexible with term dates and keep schools open over summer to enable children to catch up on the schooling hours that they have missed.
