Loneliness amongst the elderly and in care homes

In a report by the NASEM, it is known that more than one-third of adults aged 45 and older feel lonely, and nearly one-fourth of adults aged 65 and older are considered to be socially isolated. It’s also thought that elderly people call on the emergency services for company, as it’s their only option, and they can often go week without talking to anyone. The COVID-19 pandemic has unfortunately only heightened these feelings amongst our elders, and there are many people out there within communities who want to help.
