When the corona virus went out of control and the governments all over the world announced lockdown, billions of people were locked in their homes. In the initial days of lockdown, people saw it as an opportunity , to spend time with their families, to pursue their hobbies, to learn new skills. While some people made the most out of it, there were some who were locked in their homes alone. As the time passed, they started feeling anxious. There has been a massive rise in the number of suicide cases in Japan. One in every four person in the world has experienced some form of mental illness during the pandemic. Still not all of them seek treatment. Even in 21st century, mental illness is considered as a taboo. People often confuse mental illness with depression, while mental illness is an umbrella of diseases that can affect our mental health like anxiety, schizophrenia, hypertension , etc. People need to understand that their mental health is as important as their physical health.
