Plastic, especially in PPE, mostly single-use, has proved invaluable. Some of it may be recyclable, but how much is truly biodegradable? In addition to that disposed of responsibly, a considerable amount is visible litter, just a time when David Attenborough’s publicity on plastic in the oceans had really hit home.
Some “biodegradable” plastic actually takes one year or more to break down, perhaps doing damage in the interim; some are not tough enough to be useful.
