The pandemic has seriously affected our business economy. All of those negatively affected are (or were) working taxpayers. Taxes accrued by the state pay the salaries of those who work for the state. The state workforce is huge and a great many people employed there receive salaries in excess of ¬£100,000. Wouldn‚’t it be a noble gesture during the pandemic, to temporarily cut state sector salaries exceeding ¬£100,000 by say 20% and redistribute the money elsewhere, where it is most needed?
