The pandemic has made the underlying inequality in the UK starkly evident: People in regular employment have benefited from protection. Property owners have had mortgage holidays. Older people have benefited for the sacrifices of younger people in more exposed sectors.
If you own your own home with a garden and a pension or a job amenable to home working then avoiding risk and waiting for a vaccine has been a minor annoyance. If you are trying to establish yourself in education, a career, financial security or even a social existence you have had a terrible year.
