The next generation will know how to work remotely, because school has taught them

The generation of pupils coming out of school for the next five years will be familiar with remote working, that’s what they’ve been doing at school. They will have already had to manage their time remotely and have used conferencing and other tools to be productive. When people say the education system is out of touch with employers, we shouldn’t forget that this is a big part of what pupils are currently learning.

We shouldn’t lose this opportunity for pupils to engage with technology in this more formal way. Someone who was familiar with ‘text-speak’ and social platforms previously, will now have added more formal email communication and video-conferencing to their experience. We shouldn’t lose this from our curriculum.
