Using covid hospital sites to get through the courts backlog

Covid 19 has thrown the legal system in to disarray as court cases, unable to be heard, have now reached 53,000 for crown courts and over 400,000 for magistrates courts. It will be a particular challenge to work through this backlog and restore justice.

An opportunity exist to get through this backlog by using the nightingale hospitals as temporary court houses and cutting the number of jurors from 12 to 7.
