The only goal ALL Members of Parliament, irrespective of party affiliation, should have when our Country faces a crises is to get through it as quickly and safely as possible while showing a united front. The public must have complete confidence in the guidelines and rules imposed in such times and the only way in which that will happen is if ALL MPs are seen to have complete confidence in them.
The foundation for resolving this is already in place with COBRA. From what I understand the attendees of the COBRA meetings change depending on the particular reason for calling COBRA together. While this is a great approach where certain expertise is required, it doesn’t provide a united front across all political parties.
If COBRA meetings were attended by all party leaders, and majority verdicts supported by all party leaders, the public would be more inclined to follow the rules and therefore bring the spread of COVID under control.
