Firstly, I don’t think this is an easy problem to fix, but a solution could start in its simplest form with Robotic Automated Digital Assistance : for example, programmable digital cleaners, eg robotic machines with arms to spray rooms, robotic machines to check cleanliness and clean floors etc. Robotic machines that can clear, clean and remake an empty bed.
In its most basic form, patient care and monitoring should be remote with body sensors to monitor patient responses remotely-eg temperature, pulse, heart rate. Patients could provide responses via a digital device, where possible.
In my wildest dreams, a robot could respond to a patient’s basic needs: answer questions at the bedside, take food requests and administer basic needs.
This would free up human intervention for more advanced critical care, reduce the contamination risk to staff and save on the cost of PPE.
AI and digital health care is on the rise, the pandemic has shown that the need is there.
