Why not start with something small but very practical – a presumption in favour of a national 20mph road speed limit through all residential areas?
This would immediately reduce noise and air pollution, vibration to property, road surface damage, the risk of RTIs and intimidation to cyclists and pedestrians.
Overall, at a stroke, it would contribute to the health and wellbeing of countless numbers of UK citizens and reduce costs to the Exchequer for many different areas – NHS and Local Government just for a start.
It could also help to restore our much depleted bio-diversity if hedgehogs could cross the road safely and birds could hear each other sing!
