Combating litter and littering

In the same way that persistent national publicity campaigns supported by peer pressure and when needed police enforcement have led to almost universal compliance with social distancing and mask wearing, similar approaches to taking litter home could be used to reducing littering.

A community organised annual clean-up day or even just a cleanup hour, coordinated at a national scale, could both reduce existing trash and also perhaps create the same community spirit seen during the ‘clap for carers’ of the first lockdown.
