Education

Good education is key in bringing people out of poverty. Literacy is the foundation stone to access to a good education. There is a company called Touch Type Read Spell (TTRS) that created software for teaching students to spell and touch type at the same time. It uses the Alpha to Omega phonics system used in all primary schools. Our youngest students cannot use this programme as TTRS state that the keyboards on computers are too large for the hands of children under the age of 8 or 9. So why not engage a company to design computers with smaller keyboards and form a pact with TTRS and roll out the product in all of our primary schools? Students will think it is a game; but as they play they will actually learn to read. The product would also be marketable in all English speaking countries. TTRS was trailed in a youth offenders prison in England many years ago and the literacy levels rocketed. NB I have no connection with TTRS.
