When I last heard about it, Westminster was in urgent need of refurbishment, which would mean parliament moving out for some time at huge cost. The use of a virtual parliament, building on the experience during the pandemic as necessary, would eliminate the need to find an alternative venue and thereby save on cost. (Incidentally it would also reduce MPs’ travelling time and expenses and, if of long enough duration, the need for them to have second homes in London.)
