A time to remember all those who lost their lives to the virus

One of the saddest outcomes of the virus, has been the number of people who have not really had the opportunity for relatives and friends to say a final farewell to those who have passed away as a result of the virus. Many of the relatives are hoping to have memorial services and celebrations once we finally escape from the threat of the virus – potentially leading to overload of these types of memorials, resulting in the outcome that they may well lose their sense of value.

My suggestion is that when the threat has gone, we designate a day where the country remembers those who have lost their lives to Covid 19. I have always been impressed by the Mexican Day of the Dead, where photographs of those to be remembered are hung in a room in the home and candles are lit in remembrance. Normally this day is held on 1st November which might impact our own Remembrance Sunday, but it might be an opportunity to provide comfort to many of us, unite the nation and is something that would involve no cost and would be relatively easy to implement
