Travelling to courts for legal proceedings is usually difficult for people in the rural and remote areas of Nepal. Because of this reason, most people cannot easily access justice as guaranteed in the Constitutional rights. Also, the individuals do not get to attend and observe their court proceedings. During COVID-19, due to the travelling ban and fear of transmission, for a long time, the court cases especially civil cases were on hold and zero hour was announced. It is said ‘Justice delayed is Justice denied’. The travelling ban affected the court proceedings, not only for people in rural and remote but also urban areas. This has given us an opportunity to understand and realise the woes of people in rural and remote areas who due to lack of proper facilities cannot easily access justice or visit the courts. And thus, it’s important to innovate the present facilities.
