Some years ago the recruitment of staff from the Philippine Islands and further afield give our NHS hospitals a solid base of caregivers. This does not appear to be the case in recent years and I wonder why this should be so.
Many cruise liners depend for their staff on the Philippine Islands and their population in turn rely heavily on the cruise lines for their economic survival. Following the Covid outbreak and the stopping of international travel by many surely this opportunity to recruit NHS staff should be investigated.
