The pandemic has shattered the assumption that exams are a cornerstone of education. Results can, and have, been fairly issued without formal exams. Therefore, the pandemic has given us the opportunity to reconsider the role that exams will play in education in the future. Students should be praised for curiosity, not blandly following a specification, and they should be free from the pressure that exams place on them.
