The Great British High Street

Covid is the nail in the coffin of the British High Street. Already decimated by online shopping, our high streets are full of boarded up stores, charity shops, estate agents and balti restaurants. We do not need a return to the homogenous high street of old with chains of cafes and restaurants and globalized fashion brands.

We have an opportunity to rethink the high street, to have new ideas for retail and food service, to give everyone the chance to build fresh and independent businesses and create exciting new jobs in the process. We can create better jobs in vibrant high streets. We can Build Back Better.
