Covid has severely damaged the ability of an already stretched NHS to deal with its normal work. At the same time physical inactivity is causing serious health issues which are expensive and time consuming to treat and which will continue to add to the challenges faced by the NHS. According to Public Heath England physical inactivity is responsible for one in six deaths and is estimated to cost the UK £7.4 billion annually.
