We placed our faith in recycling to solve our waste disposal problems and this had patently failed. Less than 20% of all waste has been actually recycled. Much of our waste is packaging.
At the same time the Covid pandemic has created a massive shortfall in tax revenues which will need to be addressed. Adapting the VAT system could help with this.
